I am an Clinical Trauma therapist, and devote 10 CEUs toward Gender & Sexuality content to further push my continued education in the forefront interventions. I hold certifications in Mindfulness meditation, and Complex Trauma-affirmative approaches to reduce pain, suffering, and emotional distress. Since 2016, I have been working with spectrum thrive-rs of Chronic illness autoimmune/undiagnosed to complex medical issues. My framework consists of: Integrative Relational Psychodynamic, CBT, and Life Course Approaches with the sensitivity drawn toward Trauma Informed Therapy practices. I have extensive experience with IPV - DV and complex family / relational dynamics.

I have certifications in complex trauma applicable for minority members, public services members, veterans, and adoptees in white families.

Ryan’s clinical interests include: relational work, chronic illness, trauma, and resiliency skills.

Caelan Holcombe,

Caelan has been an associate therapist with the practice since July 2020 and previously was an intern, co-facilitating groups with practice manager Ryan Sforza, LMHC. Caelan also completed an internship at Anthony Jordan Health Center in Rochester, NY working with ethnically diverse youth and young adults. Caelan is fully licensed in mental health counseling in 2023. Caelan is a graduate of St. John Fisher College and has completed additional training in trauma-informed approaches and DBT. Caelan has experience working with people across the lifespan and is passionate about working with LGBTQ+ clients. Caelan has attended conferences and trainings on transgender health, identities, and counseling in Philadelphia, Vermont, and Rochester, NY.

Meghan Cobham

Limited-Permit Mental Health Counselor (LP-MHC)

Meghan is a NYS limited licensed mental health counselor working toward full licensure. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University in 2024. Meghan’s previous experience as a private Nanny and Assistant Teacher provides her with first-hand experience in early childhood development. She also secured her 200-hour Certificate in Kripalu Yoga. Before joining Thriving Mental Health Counseling, Meghan interned at Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness through URMC where she found a keen interest in working with families, as well as parent and child work. 

Meghan strives to create an intentional space of empowerment and collaboration to aid you in navigating through life's challenges. Meghan’s therapeutic approach is strengths-based and integrative combining person-centered, ACT, IFS, and Existentialism techniques. Meghan views mental health in a holistic way, and uses evidence-based approaches to collaboratively work with clients to meet their therapeutic goals. Meghan values the importance of individualizing treatment based on each person’s specific needs.

Meghan can submit out-of-network insurance reimbursement bills, (“Superbills”) and is pursuing any insurance panel that will accept her status as a limited permit holder. She offers a sliding scale for her self-pay folks.

Intern Ge Gao (Henry) 高戈

Counseling Student with University of Rochester Warner School of Education.

Ge Gao (Henry) is a clinical practicum student currently enrolled at the University of Rochester Mental Health Counseling Program enjoying Problem Identification and Intervention in Counseling, Aging & Death, and Addictions Counseling and Prevention.

Before joining Thriving Mental Health Counseling, Ge Gao (Henry) worked as a psychology teacher at Nanchang 10th Middle School in China, teaching stress management skills and providing academic support to students. Furthering his passion for adolescence mental health and working with families, he garnered a parent training instructor position at Shenzhen Zifeiyu Rehabilitation Center for Children with Autism, to provide informational and emotional support for caretakers of children with Autism.

Ge (Henry)’s clinical approaches he is gravitationally pulled to include person-centered, DBT/CBT, trauma informed. He is interested in pursuing certification in EMDR in the near future. He is excited to be apart of the Thriving Team, and is looking forward toward an hands-on experience and collaborating with clients from diverse backgrounds.
